Fox Peak Ski Lodge
Grant: $11,740
- Did Covid-19 change the way you operate? If so, how?
For the 2020 season, as was common for many of the Canterbury Club fields, we struggled with a low snow year of snow to open. Our management of Covid19 was not tested due to this, although we had policy in place to manage crowds and accommodation.
- What was the biggest change/most challenging thing you experienced in 2020?
A low snow year had a major impact on us financially. Fox Lodge is our major asset as it generates good cashflow for the club, no snow means low or no bookings. We did offer Fox Lodge for booking for groups that skied at neighboring Mt Dobson. They were great support to us offering a discounted lift pass if staying at Fox Lodge.
- What do you regard as your organisations biggest achievement for 2020?
Receiving the funding to allow us to re roof Fox Lodge was a success for the club. As we were financially restricted it took pressure off development and maintenance. Having this boost is an absolute positive for the moral of the club.
- What is your most exciting plan going forward?
We are pretty excited to know we have been able to receive funding to help us maintain and extend the life of Fox Lodge. As things change we need to as well. Having a facility that is maintained and tidy will attract more bookings, as is apparent for the 2021 season so far. Our plan moving forward is to keep maintaining Fox Lodge to be able to use all year round for local groups and outdoor enthusiasts.
