Volunteering Mid & South Canterbury- Empowering organisations
In 2016 the Community Trust of Mid & South Canterbury has given a significant grant of $15,000 to Volunteering Mid & South Canterbury to provide training workshops for not-for-profit organisations aimed at achieving highly capable and sustainable community organisations.
Community Trust chief executive officer, Liz Shea, said “the Community Trust has a strategic focus to support non-profit organisations to maintain their long term sustainability and we are pleased to be working collaboratively with Volunteering Mid & South Canterbury on the project.”
Volunteering Mid & South Canterbury will utilise the funding to deliver training in governance, fundraising, strategic planning and financial management. The exact programme for the workshops has yet to be finalised but it is intended that the workshops will be held in Timaru, Ashburton and the Mackenzie District.
Lyndal Watt of Volunteering Mid & South Canterbury said “Our organisation is delighted with this significant contribution from the Community Trust. This will allow us to provide top quality facilitators. The proposed workshops have previously only been available in Christchurch.”
