Community Trust of Mid and South Canterbury staff and trustees do a fine job representing Team Community House up in the Waikato for the Combined Community Trusts conference 2018. Never a dull moment here... Also a few cameos and words of wisdom from Community House staff displayed during the forum!
Community House Timaru would like to welcome Bill Baillie who joins us as the new Executive Officer of the Aoraki Foundation https://www.aorakifoundation.co.nz/. As well as sharing our daily cup of tea Bill will also be working tirelessly around the region to promote the Foundation and will work with the Trustees to distribute available funding to a variety of local causes. With 50 years in accounting behind him Bill was attracted to the role with the Aoraki Foundation because of the opportunity to interact with many different people and to give something back to the community he loves – thankfully he also retains his sense of humour!
Bill is well known to our local community not only as a valued business mentor but also as a sporting enthusiast. Bill has represented South Canterbury at a youth and/or senior level in rugby, golf, cricket, sailing and soccer, played rugby league for the University of Canterbury and somehow still found the time to run a couple of marathons! Ever active, you may meet Bill out walking in Timaru with memories of his cherished Labrador-Border Collie Cross, Jessie. Give him a wave or email firstname.lastname@example.org to catch up with Bill.

We were thrilled on Tuesday to welcome Hon Peeni Henare (Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector, Minister for Whanau Ora and Youth), Jo Luxton (Rangitata based Labour List MP), Sepa Helu (Private Secretary) and Jessica Hurst (Parliamentary MP Support) to our morning tea knitting circle at Community House! This was a useful discussion for us to learn more about the priorities and programmes of the current government and to ask some pressing questions about next steps and top projects for the community and voluntary sector.
